Children work hard all day long. We don't want homework to be a stressful situation both for parents and children. We want them to go out and play and relax with their family.
However, there are some areas that should have continued practice and develop good habits.
Required homework each night will be:
1. Reading for 15 minutes to encourage the love of reading, fluency and comprehension.
2. Math facts practice for 15 minutes - This could be using flashcards, Holey cards, or Front Row.
3. Monthly Homework menu: Your child will choose 1 of the fun and interesting suggestions each WEEK to complete. They will write about this activity in their black homework notebook and share with the class on Fridays. Your child may also write about a special activity he/she participated in. For example, your child went to dance class or a sports activity. Write about it in a few sentences and you may include a picture.
